Peace.
We want it. We need it. But often, we don’t have it.
Why not?
Conflict in families, conflict at work, conflict in our churches and our country…Living with all these conflicts stand in the way of peace.
So how do we overcome them? Paul gave his advice as he closed his second letter to the church at Corinth.
Finally, brothers, good-by. Aim for perfection, listen to my appeal, be of one mind, live in peace. And the God of love and peace will be with you. 2 Corinthians 13:11
In my Vonda paraphrase, I believe Paul is saying:
- Aim for perfection in all we do as we seek to represent Christ.
- Listen to Paul’s appeal to the church live a life that honors the Lord, even in the midst of suffering.
- Be in unity and of one mind in Christ.
- And be determined, committed to live in peace with one another.
If we follow Paul’s instruction, he reminds us–as he often did in his letters–that the God of love and peace will be with us.
Peace. It’s attainable, regardless of the conflict, regardless of the circumstances. It’s attainable because our God is abundant in peace and wants to share it with us.
Our peace is found only in Him.
I pray God’s blessing on the work of your hands and your hearts,
Vonda
