The Christian Writer’s Den is now open and ready for you!

January 15, 2008

Okay, those of you who know me personally are probably asking, "Is she crazy? She doesn't know anything about maintaining a blog!"

Well, you're right–I don't! But my handy-dandy, A-plus, top dog webmaster, Steve, says I can do it, and I'm gullible enough to believe him. So here goes…(GULP!)

  • Have you ever thought about writing, but had no idea where to start?
  • Are you looking for a place to hang out with writers from all walks of life and at all levels of experience?
  • Would you like to hear about writing opportunities, calls for submission, and writer's guidelines?
  • Would you like the chance to hear success stories from published authors and learn from their mistakes?
  • Want to read book reviews, hear about writer's conferences, and announce your own writing accomplishments?

If you answered YES to any of these questions, then you're at the right place! Grab your mug (make mine blonde and sweet, please), kick off your shoes, and relax–you're among friends!

My plan is for us to "meet" every Tuesday for a short visit together. The focus will vary from week to week, but my prayer is that you'll always walk away with something that will encourage, instruct, and inspire you.

But that's not all! Give-aways, contests, and special guests are on the horizon! As a matter of fact, more information will be coming soon, but you can go ahead and mark your calendars now for April 29, when author Allison Bottke joins us to talk about writing her latest book, Setting Boundaries with Your Adult Children . Allison writes both fiction and non-fiction and is the founder of God Allows U-Turns ministries–and she has agreed to join US! This is an opportunity you won't want to miss!

(Drumroll, please!) And now for the very first official Christian Writer's Den give away!

sttl_cover_100px As many of you know, my new book, Seeing Through the Lies: Unmasking the Myths Women Believe , will be officially released in a couple of weeks, but the push is on now to get the word out. (Lesson #1 for writers: Every author has to market his or her books. The publisher's biggest marketing dollars go to the publisher's biggest authors–and in case you haven't noticed, that would not be me.)

I would love to have at least one copy of Seeing Through the Lies in every state across America as quickly as possible. So far, we're off to a great start, but we still have many states that need an "inaugural" copy. If you're willing to be an influencer and your state is waiting for a copy, email me . (Lesson #2 for writers: An influencer is a person who agrees to promote a book through endorsements, book reviews, and by telling others about it.) If you're the first to respond from your state, I'll send you a free influencer's copy! Sorry, but only the first responder from each state wins a book. And if your state isn't listed, but you know someone who lives in a targeted state, please pass along the offer.

Here are the remaining states:

Arizona Connecticut Delaware DC Hawaii Maine Massachusetts Missouri Montana Nebraska Nevada New Hampshire New Jersey North Dakota Oklahoma Rhode Island South Dakota Utah Vermont Washington West Virginia Wisconsin Wyoming

Just remember–the recipient must be willing to help spread the word through reviews, endorsements, and introductions to bookstores and women's groups. Oh, and I'll need a mailing address, of course. Thank you for your help! I appreciate it more than you know!

So, I guess that just about wraps up our first session. I hope you'll join me every week as we learn from each other and share our triumphs and our tears with the only ones who truly understand–other writers.

I leave you with this verse. I hope you'll meditate on it as you go through your week.

Therefore, this is what the Lord says: "If you repent, I will restore you that you may serve me; if you utter worthy, not worthless words, you will be my spokesman." Jeremiah 15:19

I pray God's blessing on the work of your hands and your hearts.
