Parting Words From The WORD…

Last night I received an update from a friend whose husband has been seriously ill for the past year. They had another doctor visit this week and the news wasn’t good. Barring a miracle, her dear man will be seeing Jesus soon. And although I know they love the Lord, the thought of his leaving is still difficult to accept. My heart broke for my friend.

Later, as I meditated on the Lord and the power He has in His hands to heal, I had a song come back to me that I hadn’t thought about in a while. Powerful words by my friend, Lisa McCann, reminded me that our Abba Father truly is in control and we can trust His hand.

Interview & Book Give-Away with Author & Speaker Janet McHenry

Hello, Christian Writer’s Den friends! Today is the 4th Tuesday, which means I have the joy of introducing another writer-friend to you! Today’s guest is my AWSA (Advanced Writers and Speakers Association) sister, writer and speaker Janet McHenry. You can read her bio below, but let me say here that she’s the author of 19 books, so if you’re smart, you’ll listen to what she has to say!

So let’s get started. First of all, welcome, Janet. Thanks for sharing your journey with us today. My first question is one a lot of writers are interested in. What first drew you to writing?

Parting Words From The WORD…

One day this week, Biblegateway.com’s verse was:

Who is wise and understanding among you? Let them show it by their good life, by deeds done in the humility that comes from wisdom. James 3:13 NIV

It immediately took me back to a conversation at the recent Christian Communicators Conference where the topic was wisdom. Could be kind of a heady topic, wouldn’t you say? Especially for those who write, teach, and speak The Word.

Scriptwriting: Biblical Truth From the Stage

I love drama. I love how it visually projects truth in a non-confrontational way. I love how it can have us laughing one moment and contemplating the complex issues of life the next.

Jesus loved drama, too. His parables are truth presented in a visual, non-confrontational way. They have us laughing one moment (I mean, a camel going through the eye of a needle? Someone carrying around a log in his eye?) and contemplating the weight of sin the next.

Parting Words From The WORD…

Although this writing journey is often filled with struggle and disappointment, we know we have a greater calling than to simply write.

We proclaim to you what we have seen and heard, so that you also may have fellowship with us. And our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son, Jesus Christ. We write this to make our joy complete. 1 John 1:3-4

See…know…fellowship…write…and be joyful.

I pray God’s blessing on the work of your hands and your hearts,

Vonda

Parting Words From The WORD…

How many times have you felt tired and weary…even in your Christian life? Even in ministry? Family, job, and home responsibilities added to ministry expectations can wear us down.

How can this be when we’re called to sacrifice our own desires in order to point to Christ? What about serving others and denying self?

I just returned from the 4th Christian Communicators Conference where ladies from all over the country gathered to worship the Father and learn how to become the speaker God has for them to be. It was an exhilarating week, full of laughter, learning, and love.
