The Three Best Ways to Ensure Failure

istock1011successfailureIn the world of writing we read a lot of opinions on how to succeed as a writer. But have you ever considered the surefire ingredients of failure?

Today’s post is from my friend, Dave Weiss, pastor and founder of AMOKArts and AMOKArts Tribe, a blog for anyone interested in using art to serve others and glorify God.

Check out this video. Regardless of your goals, are you headed toward success or failure?

The Three Best Ways to Ensure Failure

Kudos to You!

These Christian Writer’s Den readers have done what it takes…and these announcements prove it. Let’s celebrate with them!

  1. Jeanne Doyon (CT): I have a story included in Edie Melson’s Fighting Fear: Winning the War at Home When Your Soldier Leaves for Battle, being released 11/11/11. Also, Crosswalk.com approached me to print my article, The Art of Letting Go, on their women’s page.
  2. Glenda Mills (WV): I have a new blog/website, Meet Me on the Mountain. God has given me a new passion and joy in this new venture of blogging!  I write because I believe women have a deep need to connect with other women. A need for a community of sisters where we can share heart to heart with someone we can trust. A need to be valued, loved, and validated…without judgement. I pray that others will find my blogspot a safe place to find hope and encouragement. I have been greatly encouraged by the responses of friends and family members.
  3. Cheryl Barker (KS): My essay “Parting Thoughts from the Mother of the Bride” appeared in the October issue of Sasee. My poem “For My Amazing Mom” is the October feature in a Blue Mountain Arts  2012 calendar of the same name.
  4. Carolyn Knefely (SC): My story, More Than Cookies and Kool-Aid, has been published in the newly released Chicken Soup for the Soul: Devotional Stories for Tough Times 101 Daily Devotions to Inspire and Support You in Times of Need.
  5. Beth Fortune (SC): My story “Row Strong, Live Long” made the final round into the upcoming Chicken Soup for the Soul: Say Hello to a Better Body! to be released in May 2012. Indoor rowing has more benefits than just getting in shape :)
  6. Cynthia A. Lovely (NY): I have an article in the October issue of Sasee Magazine titled, “Kidless & Content.”
  7. Barbara Winters (IL): I was blessed to have a devotion, Tortilla Chip Revelation, featured at Christian Devotions on September 21st.
  8. Eddie Snipes (GA): Eddie’s new book, Simple Faith: How Every Person Can Experience Intimacy with God, was recently released. And I’m thrilled to announce that Eddie will be interviewed about his writing journey here on October 25. You won’t want to miss it!

Congratulations to all of you! I’m honored to be partnered with you here at Christian Writer’s Den! Can’t wait to see what you have in store next!

Parting Words from The Word…

I love the passage in Judges 6 that Dave Weise referred to in his video above. I believe it’s a great word for us today as writers.

It’s a scary world out there, with rejections and edits around every corner. We don’t feel qualified or strong enough or knowledgeable enough to write. But God tells us, just as He told Gideon:

“Go in the strength you have…Am I not sending you?” Judges 6:14

I pray God’s blessing on the work of your hands and your hearts,

Vonda
